Pre-sorting your inbox

a model sorts, Claude drafts, you send

Checked Automation Everyday Costs

The pattern has three stages. First, a decision model such as Jev answers fixed questions about each email, for example “spam yes or no?”. Then only what counts as relevant goes to Claude. Claude creates reply drafts. Only you send.

What it is for

You spend less time in your inbox, the cost per email stays small, and no email goes out without you.

Steps

  1. Try the decision model’s three question types: choice from a list, yes/no, and score.
  2. Define the categories, for example spam or fraud, urgency, buying signal, forwarding to support.
  3. A script sends the sender, address and text of each email to the decision model. In the video this runs through Zapier and a webhook. My assessment: a custom script using the mail interface (IMAP or the Gmail API) does the same.
  4. Set a confidence threshold. Uncertain classifications land with you instead of with Claude (my recommendation, see the Decision models card).
  5. Only emails labelled “relevant” go to Claude. Claude creates drafts only, and every action needs your approval.
  6. Keep track of costs. In the video, sorting about 250 emails cost slightly over 1 cent, or $1.39 with Opus 5 according to the channel.
  7. Count wrongly sorted emails for a week before you rely on the sorting (my recommendation).
